How Photography Stayed

I never imagined that I would become a photographer. I grew up in an environment where the profession of a photographer was considered something bohemian and uncertain. I kept my feet firmly on the ground for a long time. And then photography found me – and never let go.

When I was fourteen, I visited my father, whom I had not grown up with. He asked me what I wished for. That’s when I received my first camera. I didn’t come from an artistic background, so for many years I photographed only as an enthusiastic lover of family moments.

But everything changed in adulthood. I started to take a deeper interest in photography and art. I realized that photography is not just about capturing a moment. It can carry aesthetic and meaningful layers, tell stories, and open new perspectives in exploring both the world and oneself.

Then I discovered the Opava Institute of Creative Photography, which has been shaping the Czech and international photography scene for over 30 years. I knew I wanted to be part of it. So many extraordinary people in one place – it was a dream.

Getting in was not easy. The entrance exams were demanding, and the studies themselves even more so. At first, everyone shows you how comfortable and enjoyable the program is. But when you have children, a job, and at the same time have to create new projects and study tests in photography technique or history, you really break a sweat. Especially at the end of the year, when each of us experienced a very restless period.

At the beginning of my studies, I also left my job and opened my own studio. I photographed portraits, product photography, and created graphic design. Looking back, I am incredibly proud of myself. I never gave up. Even when it was difficult, I always got back up and moved forward, step by step.

Every day, I am grateful that I was able to fulfill my photographic dreams – and through that, start dreaming on an even larger scale.

Through this website, I begin a new journey. I no longer hide behind my own studio but open myself to the world and new challenges.

With love and humility, I embrace everything that comes.
